the new Silver Samurai
Nov. 25th, 2012 10:52 pmReal Name: Harada Takeshi
Alias: Silver Samurai
Group Affiliation: The Hand
Appearance: Harada Takeshi is an good-looking Japanese man, 6’ tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and dark eyes. As the Silver Samurai, he wears a silver-colored suit of hi-tech armor made for durability styled to resemble that of the ancient samurai. He also carries a katana and wakizashi with him as the Silver Samurai.
Birthdate: 1989-06-04
Personality: Takeshi is vicious, hot-tempered, arrogant, racist, sadistic, and ambitious. He does have a softer side, but that is reserved only for his wife and infant son. He has extreme pride in Japan and in being Japanese. He also does not see his enemies as human beings, only as obstacles to be broken in any way possible.
Powers: Takeshi is a superb swordsman but not quite to the level his father was. He is also a highly skilled master of several martial arts, although his abilities do not match those of Iron Fist or Shang-Chi.
Takeshi's "hidden" mutant powers are electricity based.
* Direct Current Paralysis: He can touch another person and project direct current electricity into his opponent's body, causing muscles (or wiring) to lock up and prevent him/her from moving. The touch must be maintained; as soon as he lets go, the effect fades.
* Charged Punch: Takeshi can use his electrical powers to 'super-charge' his punch, allowing him to hit opponents with much greater physical force than he normally could.
* Power Down Touch: He can inhibit or shut off the flow of electrical power to a device, or do the same to another person's electricity powers. He has to touch for this power to work currently.
* Ohm Effect: Takeshi's electricity powers make it difficult for anyone to hurt him with electricity.
* Electrosense: He has an innate ability to detect electrical fields - not only those given off by electrical current or technological devices, but those emitted by living bodies.
* Electronic Concealment: Due to the nature of Takeshi's powers, he emits a specific electronic signature that interferes with electronic monitoring systems and makes them unable to detect him.
Disadvantages: Unrelenting hatred for those he sees as architects of his father's downfall and their eldest male children. Unable to control his electronic concealment abilities to turn them off. He is mostly untrained in his mutant abilities because he was not aware he had them until recently.
Character location/Home: Mobile / Japan
Relatives: Harada Kenuichio (father, deceased), Harada Shingen (grandfather, deceased), Yukio (mother, living), Yashida Mariko (aunt, deceased), Yoshida Shiro (cousin, living)
Backstory: Takeshi is the only son of the Silver Samurai and a drunken one-night affair with Yukio. Surprisingly, the ronin did not have the baby aborted. Though she did drop him off into the Silver Samurai's care a month after birth. She did visit her son on occasion, but the visits were infrequent and did not impress much of a filial feeling toward Yukio from her son. Kenuichio had his son raised in as traditional of manner possible with an emphasis on the samurai arts. Takeshi looked up to his father immensely and tried to be the perfect son.
Kenuichio was disappointed when his son did not detect as a mutant nor grow as big as his father. Takeshi took the disappointment as an affront and worked to try to overcome these blemishes in his father's eyes. He was still working on this when his father was disgraced after losing the leadership of Clan Yashida to the Mongolian crimelord Haan Kaishek. Despite defeating Kaishek later, Kenuichio's honor was not restored as the win was said to be more Wolverine's work than Kenuichio's. The leadership of Clan Yashida was then offered to Wolverine or the person of his choice. It was decided his adoptive daughter Amiko would take the leadership mantle for Clan Yashida. After this honor was denied, Takeshi learned his father had fallen under the employ of the Hand and sent to kill the wayward Elektra. Kenuichio was killed during that confrontation.
Takeshi took what intel he could about his father's doings and began to work on getting his father's wishes for the Hand to be under his control. He decided the small potatoes of Clan Yashida was not what he needed. He wanted to unify the Japanese power of the Hand and get it under the correct leadership. To solidify his position, Takeshi killed Tsurayaba Matsu’o after performing some work under his father's mantle. It was Matsu'o's death that made Takeshi realize he was more than human. Takeshi styles himself after Tokugawa Ieyasu on leading the ninja. They are useful weapons to be used to augment Japanese strength.
In his quest to consolidate the fractured portions of the Hand under himself, he allowed the ninja to take revenge on the children of Longshot and Dazzler, who were aligned with a small group of female ninja who fought against the Hand. Takeshi also used the opportunity presented by the mission to take out some of his anger on Wolverine's son and draw out the Wolverine for a confrontation. With Wolverine's son not even knowing the basics of challenging Takeshi to a duel, the new Silver Samurai tortured Misha instead. This torture got Takeshi his most macabre desk decoration, Misha's eye floating in a jar. The torture of Misha enraged Wolverine to the point where the Hand ninja knew letting their leader fight the berserker. Despite Takeshi's wish to fight Wolverine, the ninja pulled him out of the confrontation. They used the excuse his sword would not stand up to those adamantium claws.
Having satisfied the ninjas' need for vengeance but not his own, Takeshi worked on getting the Hand unified under his control. A fierce fight with Temujin, the son of the Mandarin, helped his secure the last faction of the Hand that had not been directly under his control. With the Hand fully under one leader, he had the ninja spread across the globe, looking for hints of where the legendary sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi had gone. He did not believe the tales of it being lost at sea. He traveled the globe to find a sword that mystically would be able to hold up to Wolverine's claws.
While he had the ninja searching for the mystical weapon, he went about reorganizing the Hand. He made sure all Hand business done inside the borders of Japan was legal by the definitions of Japanese law. He made sure the darker parts of business were run outside of the country in Hong Kong and Madripoor as bases. He keeps in touch with them through some untraceable mystical channels. Takeshi was determined to make the Japanese portion of Hand business to gather no interest from the government and law enforcement. While he was doing this, he met and married Kuroki Namie, a fashion model. A year into their marriage, she retired from modeling. Nine months later, Namie gave birth to Takeshi's son, Masato.
Currently, Takeshi spends his time handling Hand business and traveling in search of the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi.
